Seasonal
With the winter coming to an end, we are in the final stages of preparation
for spring cleanups to start in mid April. There are many things for
you to consider during these last few weeks of snow cover. As soon
as the weather permits, we will begin servicing properties and preparing
them for the growing season.
Some of the spring services that we offer include:
Spring Cleanup
All leaves and winter debris will be removed from the property, allowing the lawn and gardens to breath, preventing disease and encouraging growth. This service runs from mid April to early May.
Aeration: An important part of a health disease resistant lawn.
Combining Aeration and Top Dressing increases the value of both services and yields the best results. The rich Top Dressing material is worked into the lawn resulting in excellent nutrient absorbtion and a perfect environment for the new grass seed to grow. |
Removing small cores of soil from your lawn will soften the soil, allowing water air and nutrients to circulate and reach the root zone. The increased depth of the grass roots will minimize the amount of water that your lawn will need, in addition to increasing the lawns resistance to diseases, droughts and other forms of stress. Aeration normally begins in late April or early May, based on soil conditions.
Top Dressing
A rich mixture of soil and peat moss is spread over your lawn to provide a base for newly planted grass seed to germinate. Top dressing is best carried out in cool weather and is a great way to build up the density of your lawn and level out and minor bumps in the lawn surface.
Garden Preparation
After a long winter, your garden may look bleak. By removing winter protection, turning the soil and re defining the edges, your garden will quickly respond to the nice weather and will be back in top shape for you to enjoy. If your garden is in need of an extra boost, we will add a layer of rich composted soil to ensure that your plants and shrubs have all the nutrients that they require.
Garden preparation is available both as a one-time service and as part of our garden maintenance package.
